The American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa announces a generous donation from Go Daddy, the Web’s top platform for small businesses. Go Daddy donated $10,000 and is the presenting sponsor of the 8th Annual BIG B*A*S*H. The event consists of a military-themed dinner and auction, with live entertainment.
This is Go Daddy’s third year as presenting sponsor. “Over the years, Go Daddy and its employees have donated time and money to make a difference to families in crisis in Iowa,” said Go Daddy Chief Human Resources Officer Lane Jarvis. “Instead of just cutting a check, our Iowa employees volunteer their time by going door-to-door to deliver lifesaving information to community members.”
The military themed BIG B*A*S*H will be held at the Cedar Rapids Country Club, May 3, 2013. The event raises funds for day-to-day Red Cross operations to ensure lifesaving services are provided in Eastern Iowa. In 2012, the hugely successful BIG B*A*S*H raised more than $65,000!
“We are so pleased to accept this gracious gift from Go Daddy,” said Steve Barnett, Executive Director of the Eastern Iowa Area of the Red Cross. “Every dollar helps provide services for our community.”
Fundraisers like the BIG B*A*S*H are important to carry out the vital work of the Red Cross. Each year the Red Cross, whose total workforce is 96% volunteers, responds immediately to about 90 disasters in Eastern Iowa, including house fires, tornadoes and other natural and man-made disasters. We also educate thousands of individuals in important lifesaving skills like babysitting, CPR, First Aid, AED use, aquatics and more! Additionally, we support the military by sending over 200 emergency communications from their family members each year.
