Through a disaster grant from the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund and the support of Carried on Trailers and Cooperative Helping Hands, the River Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross was recently able to purchase trailers to aid in the storage and distribution of disaster supplies. The two trailers are situated in Richmond and Westmoreland counties allowing the chapter to be ready to respond whenever disaster strikes.
“This will be a great resource for both counties and surrounding areas should the need arise,” said Julie Dudley, executive director of the River Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross. “The collaboration to achieve this goal has been phenomenal and it is with thanks to our donors and partners that this was accomplished. We are so grateful to Chief Greg Baker of Richmond County Emergencies who partnered with us to negotiate and organize the purchase of the trailers, and for the compassion of Carried on Trailers for reducing the costs to allow this to happen. “
During times of disaster, the trailers serve as a one stop drop off point for Red Cross volunteers and county emergency workers. “As a result of this funding it has been possible to more efficiently provide services to our residents in both Counties and will enable River Counties to provide necessary supplies to Westmoreland County,” said Greg Baker, chief of emergencies for Richmond County.
“Carried on Trailers are honored to be part of the community and to support the Red Cross in this project”, said Gary Holbrook of Carried on Trailers.
