Groton Fire Displaces Six

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE … (Groton, VT – December 4, 2012) Early this morning, fire struck six family members who shared a mobile home on North County Road in Groton, VT. The blaze has rendered the unit uninhabitable.

Dispatchers reached out to the American Red Cross overnight to alert us to the event and that the family would likely be in need of emergency services. Red Cross disaster services workers responded, meeting with the affected residents to help get the recovery process underway. The Red Cross has provided temporary lodging and financial assistance to help replace food and clothing lost in the fire. To further aid with recovery, referrals have been made to state, local and other non-profits for additional assistance. If disaster health or disaster mental health services are needed, specialized Red Cross volunteers can be called upon.
