Heart of Missouri Chapter hosts Lifesaver Awards Kickoff event

We know there are many people in the chapter’s 21 counties who deserve to be nominated and we want people to recognize those lifesaving efforts by sending us nominations.

Nominations for the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter’s 2013 Lifesaver Awards will open during the event’s Kickoff ceremony, which will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Central Bank Financial Center, 111 E. Miller St. in Jefferson City.

“I am very excited about this year’s awards program,” said Nancy Sell, Lifesaver project manager and chapter community development manager.

“We have two exceptional co-chairs in Jimmy Kay Sanders and Amy Berendzen and we have an outstanding committee. We also have some new award categories, so we expect to receive a number of nominations from across the chapter.

“We know there are many people in the chapter’s 21 counties who deserve to be nominated and we want people to recognize those lifesaving efforts by sending us nominations.”

Award categories this year include: Good Samaritan; Youth; Blood Services; Military; Medical; Law Enforcement; Firefighter; and EMT. The chapter also will honor its Volunteer of the Year.

Sell, Sanders and Berendzen will be on hand at the Kickoff to talk about the Lifesaver Awards and answer questions. Lifesaver committee members, chapter board members, past Lifesaver Award winners and sponsors have been invited to attend.

Nomination forms, which include information on the categories, will be available at Red Cross offices in: Jefferson City, 431 E. McCarty St.; Fulton, 500 Market St, Suite 300; Columbia, 1805 W. Worley; and Mexico, 1805 W. Boulevard. Forms also will be available on the chapter website, which is www.redcross.org/hom and at various locations throughout the chapter.
