Hometown Heroes put the finishing touches on their 2013 fund-raising campaign Saturday at the 15th annual American Red Cross Audrain-Montgomery Dinner Auction in Mexico.
“What a wonderful evening,” said Clayton Kennedy, the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter’s community market manager. “It was great to see so many people come out in support of the Red Cross.”
Six individuals and one company raised at least $500 to become a Hometown Hero. Money raised from their efforts will be used to provide Red Cross services in Audrain and Montgomery counties.
Hometown Heroes for 2013 are: Anne Johnson; Ron Hopkins; Jim and Ellen Wilson, with the generous support of Pearl Auto; Ameren; Anita Davis and her strong support team; and Bernie Phipps.
“I really can’t say enough about our heroes this year,” Kennedy said. “They put in a lot of time and effort to raise these funds which will help their neighbors.”
The Red Cross also presented four special awards.
Phipps received the Director’s Award. Ameren received the Business of the Year Award. Jolene Davis received the Rising Star Award and Anita Davis was named Volunteer of the Year.
“It is difficult to single out any of the great volunteers and businesses that support the Red Cross, but there are some who do give that something extra,” Kennedy said. “We are so very fortunate to have people and companies who believe wholeheartedly in the Red Cross mission.”
