Thank you so much for your interest in helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy. There are a few ways that you can help!
The first way is to make a financial donation.
Please note that the American Red Cross does not accept material donations or collections of items, including food, clothing, and other supplies. These items often must be sorted, repackaged, and transported, which impedes valuable resources of money, time, and personnel that are needed for other aspects of our disaster relief operation. If you would like to donate food items, the Red Cross recommends contacting your local food bank.
To donate clothing or household items, we suggest visiting the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster's website by clicking here for a list of organizations that accept these types of donations.
Financial contributions are needed, on the other hand, to allow the Red Cross to purchase exactly what is needed for the disaster relief operation close to the disaster site, which avoids delays in getting basic necessities to disaster victims and helps stimulate the weakened local economy, as a community affected by disaster has generally experienced significant economic loss.
If you, your school, organization, or business would be interested in raising money for the Red Cross by holding an event, auction, sale, dress-down day, etc., please contact Donna Maritato at (732) 493-9100 ext. 1245 or email Donna.Maritato@redcross.org.
You can also assist the Red Cross by signing up to volunteer. Please click here to begin the process of becoming a volunteer with the Red Cross. If you have further questions about volunteering, please call Bea Frost at (856) 365-7100 x 231 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Donating blood is another great way to help the American Red Cross. Click here to sign up and make an appointment to donate blood today.
