SANTA CRUZ, CA (June 12, 2013) - On Wednesday, May 15, the American Red Cross Santa Cruz County Chapter honored 15 individuals at the Heroes Breakfast event. Volunteers, sponsors, and community members gathered at the Cocoanut Grove Ballroom at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and honored the commitment and compassion of our everyday heroes who serve as the heart and soul of the Santa Cruz Chapter. The goal of the event was to recognize acts of heroism by local residents and pay tribute to those who have performed lifesaving deeds while supporting the local lifesaving programs and emergency services.
The Heroes Breakfast hosted a “Fund-A-Need” fundraiser and over $10,000 was raised. In total, the event raised more than $40,000 for local programs and services. More than 300 people were in attendance.
Congratulations once again to our 2013 Santa Cruz County Heroes!
