From Meredosia to Havana to London Mills to Chillicothe to Utica to Marseilles, thousands have been driven from their homes due to floodwaters. As the waters recede, families are returning to confront waterlogged homes with mold and muck filled basements.
The American Red Cross was there before and during the floods providing food and shelter for families driven from their homes or the volunteers toiling to lay sandbags or reinforce levees. Emergency Response Vehicles are daily distributing hot food and snacks to those affected.
On Friday, May 3, State Senator Dave Koehler will join Red Cross volunteers to serve food and deliver supplies to central Illinois residents facing a long road to recovery.
The senator will join volunteers at 9:30am at Woodland Baptist Church (6915 N Allen Rd, Peoria, IL) where Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams are partnering with the Red Cross to prepare a warm meal for flood-affected residents.
From there, Senator Koehler will ride along with volunteers in an Emergency Response Vehicle.
