Local Volunteers on the Way to Help Victims of Isaac

The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region deployed 12 volunteers and six emergency response vehicles to provide aid to victims of Isaac. Local volunteers will be providing disaster relief in Louisiana, Florida and Alabama. A number of the volunteers drove the Emergency Response Vehicles stationed in this region.

The Red Cross is in action throughout the Gulf region, providing shelter and help in Florida, and preparing to open evacuation shelters in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. In total, more than 1,500 disaster workers have been deployed across the Gulf Coast to help with Red Cross efforts.
