SANTA ANA, Calif. – The American Red Cross has formally announced Maxine Margaritis as its new Regional Chief Executive Officer for Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
The appointment marks a return to Southern California for Margaritis, who began her career in the area. She most recently served as the Regional CEO for the Red Cross in Utah, a position she has held since 2006, and also has more than 10 years of experience as a Red Cross development director.
In addition, for more than 12 years Margaritis ran her own successful non-profit consulting business where she provided strategic organizational development, planning and fundraising guidance to a diverse group of clients. In this role, she helped national and local non-profits strengthen and expand key fundraising, communications and programming partnerships and also launched innovative campaigns that raised more than $30 million.

Jordan, vice president for the Pacific Division of the American Red Cross. “She is a dynamic executive whose leadership will help ensure that we continue provide essential services following disasters, teach lifesaving and preparedness skills and assist members of the armed forces.”
“We are delighted to have Maxine back on our team,” added Suzanne Fradette, board chair of the American Red Cross of Orange County. “She not only has more than 30 years of non-profit experience, she has a local history with our chapter and is truly the perfect choice to lead our region.”
Margaritis began her career as a Red Cross blood donor resources representative in Orange County, where she also led the youth, volunteer and financial development departments. She has also held senior development director positions at the Red Cross in Los Angeles as well as with the Utah AIDS Foundation in Salt Lake City.

Margaritis was recently named one of Utah Business Magazine’s “30 Women to Watch,” which recognized skilled leaders for "innovation, confidence and savvy." She holds a master of science in Education from the University of Utah, where she also earned a bachelor of arts in English as a cum laude graduate.
