NBT Bank Donates $25,000 to Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund

NBT Bank, which was originally going to match the funds donated by its employees, decided to provide a corporate donation of $14,400 to raise the total contribution to $25,000.

Through the efforts and generosity of the employees of NBT Bank, $10,600 was raised to benefit the American Red Cross’ Disaster Relief Fund. On Jan. 4, a check in the amount of $25,000 was presented to the American Red Cross at the bank’s headquarters in Norwich. Karen Sastri, NBT Bank Corporate Training Manager, and Florence Doller, Senior Vice President of Marketing, presented the check to Southern Tier Chapter Executive Shelley Bierwiler and Susan Lee, Major Gifts Officer for the American Red Cross Central New York Region.

The Southern Tier Chapter, which is in the Central New York Region, has a branch office at 27 W. Main St. in Norwich.

The American Red Cross’ Disaster Relief Fund is used annually for more than 70,000 natural and man-made disasters such as fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous material spills, transportation accidents and explosions. It’s the kindness, concern and generosity of donors such as NBT Bank’s employees and management that enable the American Red Cross to carry out its humanitarian mission.

When disaster strikes, the American Red Cross provides shelter, food, supplies and emotional support to assist individuals and families and help them get back on their feet.
