American Red Cross introduces Babysitting Basics, a new online version of the Babysitter’s Training course available now to local teens. Similar to the classroom course, Babysitting Basics teaches youth ages 11 to 15 the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants.
Combining video and interactive activities, this convenient online course helps students develop leadership skills and tools for reacting appropriately and efficiently in the event of an emergency. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children; how to stay safe; what to do in an emergency; how to choose age-appropriate activities; and how to recognize and handle a variety of behaviors.
The online course can be completed in as little as 4 hours and there are no additional participant materials required to take the course. Within the environment, participants have unlimited access to downloadable resources that can be used for additional self‐learning or to refresh their skills.
