The American Red Cross is hosting a three day intensive disaster training for staff and volunteers. Volunteers and staff from across New England along with their Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV) will converge in Westborough MA at the Cumberland Farms Warehouse for a North East Stampede and ERV Rodeo.
Just as the Red Cross encourages families, organizations and individuals to be prepared, we must also take measures to be prepared in order to best serve our communities. Having highly trained and prepared staff and volunteers ensures that the Red Cross is ready in the event of disasters and helps to further our mission of alleviating human suffering in the face of disasters.
Trainings in mass care, feeding, fork lift operation, trailer towing, client casework, and sheltering will be offered. There will also be an ERV rodeo in which ERV drivers will train and compete in several categories including maneuvering, obstacles, parking and handling.
