Planning begins for 2013 Lifesaver Awards

We've expanded the program for 2013, so we're looking to have another great event.

Plans for the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter’s 2013 Lifesaver Awards are in the early stages, but the date for the event has been set.

The Lifesaver Awards ceremony will be held beginning at 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 25 at the North Jefferson City Pavilion.

“We’ve expanded the program for 2013, so we’re looking to have another great event,” said Nancy Sell, project manager for the Lifesavers Awards. “We encourage the public to submit nominations. There are very deserving people out there who should be recognized for their life-saving actions and we can’t do that unless we know about them.”

Lifesaver Awards will be presented in eight categories: Youth; Good Samaritan; Military; Blood Services; Medical; Law Enforcement, Firefighter; and EMT. The chapter’s Volunteer of the Year will be recognized.

Chapter volunteers also will be honored during the program and the annual meeting will be held.

The evening includes a dinner and silent auction. Tickets will be available at a later date.

Organizers have scheduled a kickoff program, which will start the nomination process, for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 in the chapter headquarters at 431 E. McCarty St. in Jefferson City. Nominations can come from any of the 21 counties in the Heart of Missouri Chapter.

Anyone interested in the Lifesaver Awards is invited to attend the kickoff.
