The American Red Cross and Radio Disney have developed a partnership to offer preparedness assemblies at local elementary schools. Radio Disney representatives have been conducting assemblies and training children in the American Red Cross Passport to Preparedness program.
At the first assembly on November 1, more than 600 children were trained in disaster preparedness. Students are instructed on basic preparedness information including making a plan, building a kit and creating an out-of-area contact. This partnership has more assemblies scheduled in the coming weeks at schools in several districts, including Lake Washington and Federal Way.
