Red Cross Director, Todd James Named as National Youth Advisor

Red Cross Director Named as National Youth Advisor
I am very honored and excited to be joining the National Youth Council.

Todd James, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot Counties, has been selected by the American Red Cross as an advisor to the organization’s National Youth Council.

The American Red Cross National Youth Council (NYC) is a group of 13 youth and __ adult advisors who represent the youth volunteers of the American Red Cross, and continually strive to better serve them. Drawing upon the creativity, dedication, and energy of this group, the NYC seeks to promote young volunteers as an organizational resource. In addition, they advocate for youth involvement throughout the Red Cross, advise senior leadership on organization-wide policies concerning youth, maintain, connect and inform youth by distributing a bi-monthly e-newsletter, recognize outstanding volunteers through scholarships, reach out to youth in the field through the Connect Tour, and more.

“I am very honored and excited to be joining the National Youth Council,” says James. “This is a great group of volunteers who are doing fantastic work involving youth in the Red Cross. I am really looking forward to helping them in any way I can by bringing in some successful ideas from our local Red Cross Youth Council.” James will be traveling to the national American Red Cross headquarters in Washington, D.C. July 19-21 for his first meeting as a member of the National Youth Council.

Locally, James serves as an advisor for the Red Cross Youth Council - a youth service group that helps the Red Cross fulfill its humanitarian mission of preventing, preparing for, and responding to emergencies. Working closely with the Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot counties, youth council members participate in Red Cross service projects that impact their community and the world. Student members discover many new opportunities for self-awareness and develop leadership and organizational skills all while meeting new people and having fun.

The local Red Cross Youth Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Hancock County Red Cross, 125 Fair Street in Findlay. Any high school student in Hancock, Seneca, or Wyandot County is welcome to join. For more information call 419-422-9322 or email
