Red Cross Helps Family After Fire in Frostburg

The Red Cross is providing financial assistance to replace food, clothing and other necessities that were destroyed in the blaze.

Baltimore—The American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region assisted a family today after an overnight fire on the 50 block of Green Street in Frostburg. The Red Cross is providing financial assistance to replace food, clothing and other necessities that were destroyed in the blaze.

Red Cross caseworkers will continue to follow up with the family until all their immediate needs have been met.

More than twice a day the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region provides basic needs to Maryland families after disasters including emergency shelter, food, clothing and counseling thanks to major support from donors to the United Way campaigns in Maryland. Each day the Red Cross also provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
