Red Cross Helps Great Mills Family after Deadly Fire

American Red Cross volunteers from St. Mary’s County have been on the scene offering help this morning to survivors of a deadly fire on the 45000 block of Foxchase Drive in Great Mills. The Red Cross provided emergency shelter to two persons living in one of the units that was affected. Red Cross caseworkers will continue to assist everyone involved until all of their immediate needs have been met.

More than twice a day the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region provides basic needs to disaster victims such as emergency shelter, food, clothing and counseling to Maryland families after disasters thanks to major support from donors to the United Way campaigns in Maryland. Each day the Red Cross also provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
