Red Cross Helps Lusby Family After Home Fire

American Red Cross workers were on the scene last night offering help to a family after a fire destroyed their home on the 130 block of Cove Point in Lusby. The Red Cross provided the residents with emergency shelter and financial assistance to replace burned clothing, food and other essential needs. Red Cross caseworkers will continue to assist the family until all of their immediate needs have been met.

More than twice a day the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region provides basic needs to disaster victims such as emergency shelter, food, clothing and counseling to Maryland families after disasters thanks to major support from donors to the United Way campaigns in Maryland. Each day the Red Cross also provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
