As we approach the busiest time of hurricane season, the Red Cross continues to prepare for what the Atlantic has in store for us. On Saturday, August 4, the Pitt County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a Disaster Shelter Simulation at the National Guard Armory in Greenville, NC from 10am-1pm. The purpose of the simulation is to provide participants with an opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills and abilities required to operate a successful shelter.
The shelter simulation is open to registered Red Cross volunteers and staff who have completed the prerequisite courses and will be working on shelter operations teams in their community. Community members are encouraged to become a Red Cross volunteer and get registered for upcoming disaster training. For more information about volunteering or participating in the shelter simulation, please call the Pitt County Chapter at (252) 355-3800.
