Red Cross Honors Summit County Volunteers for their Dedication and Service

Service Pin Award recipient, Egon Gerson

The Red Cross recently presented volunteer service, to six Summit County volunteers for their dedication, service and commitment to the Red Cross and community members.

Long-time volunteer and World War II veteran Egon Gerson (pictured) was recognized for 50 years of service. Egon was presented with a Red Cross Service Pin. Read more about Egon’s remarkable story and years of service below.

The Volunteer of the Year award is presented every year to an individual who demonstrates outstanding service and involvement in their community. This year Jim Powell, logistics lead volunteer, was honored as Volunteer of the Year for the American Red Cross Northwest Disaster Area.

The Red Cross also presented Les Clarke, Carol Clarke, Mary Kay Kelley, and Mike Kelley with five-year pins in honor of their five years of dedicated and exceptional service.
