We have an awesome team.

Seven Northern Colorado business leaders were recognized for their successes at the 2014 Northern Colorado Business Report's Bravo! Entrepreneur Awards on Tuesday, March 25.

The Regional Spirit Award was awarded to the American Red Cross Northern Colorado chapter. The coveted award is presented annually to an organization that helps promote growth and the well being of the communities of northern Colorado while being outstanding corporate citizens and promoting regional collaboration.

Between tornadoes, floods and wildfires, the organization has played a key role in helping the region recover from these disasters. “Larimer County has one of the highest numbers of federally declared disasters in the nation,” said Erin Mounsey, executive director of the Northern Colorado chapter.

The last few years have seen nearly nonstop action by volunteers who have responded to floods and wildfires by coordinating shelters, food, clothing, medical and mental health services and communications in the early stages and ongoing long-term recovery and cleanup work later on. The seemingly endless string of disasters has been “challenging,” Mounsey said. “We’ve learned that we can’t have too many dedicated volunteers who have the skills to help. We have an awesome team.”
