As a result of Wednesday evening and Thursday's heavy rains, the American Red Cross of the Heartland in Bloomington opened a shelter in response to flooding in Utica, IL. The shelter is open at Illinois Valley Community College, 815 N. Orlando Smith Ave. in Oglesby, IL.
The fire dept. is evacuating some homes in Utica, and at this time there isn't an estimate on the size of the population affected.
Anyone in this area that is affected by flood waters should seek refuge at the shelter.
