Red Cross Provides Water, Snacks to Nearly 100 Firefighters at Willimantic Blaze

WILLIMANTIC, CONN., MAY 16, 2013 – The American Red Cross provided water and snacks to approximately 100 firefighters responding to a church fire on Valley Street in Willimantic. Seven Red Cross volunteers were on the scene to provide service. “We offer this assistance to help firefighters stay hydrated and energized during a strenuous response,” said Red Cross spokesperson Paul Shipman. “We are honored to support the brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way for the public’s safety.” American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
