Red Cross Responds to Last Night’s Fire at the Budget Inn Motel in Norfolk

Tenants of the Budget Inn Motel on East Norfolk Avenue are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross after a fire broke out last night affecting 16 units and displacing residents. A team of 8 volunteers and a staff member responded to the fire.

A shelter was opened in the early morning hours at Lutheran High Northeast, where volunteers provided 5 residents with food, a place to rest, and a shoulder to lean on. This morning, the Red Cross is continuing to work with displaced residents to provide food, clothing, shelter, comfort and care based on need.
