Red Cross Responds to Multiple Weekend Fires & Train Derailment

Teams of Red Cross volunteers helped coordinate assistance in the form of food, shelter, and emotional support to 45 individuals due to fire damage.

For the second weekend in a row, local American Red Cross volunteers across the Triangle Region responded to multiple home and apartment fires over the weekend in Wake, Harnett, and Robeson Counties, as well as supplied shelter support after the train derailment in Bladen County. Teams of Red Cross volunteers helped coordinate assistance in the form of food, shelter, and emotional support to 45 individuals due to fire damage. Services provided to 13 families include hotel, food, clothing/shoes, storage containers, infant supplies, and medications.
