Maine 12/26/12 Red Cross, Servpro Partner to Help Mainers in Need

(l to r) Servpro’s Marketing Manger Holly Merrill and State Director/Distributor Scott Carter, Red Cross Chief Development Officer Tammy Atwood, and Servpro Marketing Manager Barbara Rapoza present the gift to the American Red Cross.

“Servpro franchises are committed to supporting their local community, and we’re honored to have such a strong partner in the American Red Cross.

MAINE, December 10, 2012 – Servpro, an industry leader in residential and commercial water and fire restoration, held their 5th annual Appreciation Day fundraiser, with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross of Maine. The generous gift of over $13,000 will help victims of disaster across the state, and ensure the important work of the Red Cross continues without interruption during what will predictably be another busy winter fire season ahead.

The golf tournament is an event that is sponsored by the nine Servpro franchises throughout the state of Maine and is held for those in the insurance and property management industries in appreciation for their partnership and support of their business relationships. Local businesses donated numerous prizes and items, sponsored holes throughout the course, and assisted in making the event a success.

“Servpro franchises are committed to supporting their local community, and we’re honored to have such a strong partner in the American Red Cross,” stated Scott Carter, Servpro’s Trainer/Distributor for the State of Maine. “We see this gift as an investment in the safety and recovery of Red Cross’ clients.”

“Quite often, as our volunteers are on the scene of a fire assisting the victims of a disaster, the Servpro van pulls up and their technicians get to work helping those affected get back on their feet,” stated Patricia Murtagh, Chief Executive Officer for the Red Cross of Maine. “Their gift goes a long way in making sure we have the tools and resources necessary to continue to serve those in need.”

Last fiscal year, the American Red Cross of Maine provided disaster relief services to over 1,000 individuals across Maine. Our volunteers educated nearly 3,500 Mainers in disaster preparedness, and assisted about 1,000 military families with communications services and financial aid. All Red Cross services are free of charge and made possible by the generous contributions of businesses like Servpro, individuals, and foundations across the state.
