While life is returning to normal for many, some are still without power and need of assistance after last week’s historic storms. To help affected families, the American Red Cross shelter at Armstrong Senior High School in Plymouth will remain open tonight. The shelter is located at:
Armstrong Senior High School
10635 36th Ave N
Plymouth, MN 55441
If you need shelter due to the recent storms, please call (612) 871-7676.
“Last night, seven people found refuge at the shelter and more are expected tonight,” said Jill Hallonquist, Response Manager, for the American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region. “We’re here to help and provide comfort to families still struggling in the wake of these storms. The shelter will remain open until power is restored and/or immediate assistance is no longer needed.”
This shelter provides a safe, cool place for those affected by storms to rest, get some sleep, and charge devices - including nebulizers and other rechargeable batteries for medical devices.
The American Red Cross continues to work with its local partners, such as local food shelves and other disaster response organizations, to connect families to multiple resources to help them in the recovery process.
You can help people affected by disasters, like those impacted by storms, as well as countless crises at home and around the world, by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters. Visit www.redcross.org/northmn or call (612) 460-3700.
