On June 26, the American Red Cross assisted corporate partner Newmont Mining Corporation with a live, full-building evacuation of nearly 400 employees from their corporate headquarters in Greenwood Village.
The drill was part of the company’s emergency preparedness efforts. As a global mining company, Newmont has comprehensive emergency and disaster preparedness programs for its employees and contractors around the world. Today’s drill is one of many trainings, tests and exercises Newmont conducts to enhance its global emergency preparedness plans.
The American Red Cross is a leader in corporate preparedness and is honored to be a Premier Partner of Newmont; the company has committed to annual donations to the American Red Cross to support the Colorado community’s ability to prepare for, prevent and respond to disasters and emergencies.
“We admire Newmont’s example of safety and preparedness within the workplace and their commitment to the community.” said Gino Greco, CEO of the American Red Cross Mile High Region. “Many generous donors recognize the need to give once a community has been devastated by disaster – but we are grateful to Newmont for recognizing the importance of supporting the Red Cross in all that it must to do before disaster strikes, so that we can be fully ready to respond at a moment’s notice when we are needed most.”
“The health and safety of our people is integral to everything we do, whether at our mine sites around the globe or our corporate headquarters in Colorado. We appreciate the American Red Cross's support for our emergency preparedness efforts and for all they do in our community,” said Omar Jabara, Newmont’s Group Executive, Corporate Communications.
