Santa Rosa, CA – The 15-year old girl who provides stylish new clothes to financially struggling teens, a firefighter who saved a trapped hypothermic snowboarder, a Petaluma man who helped raise $5 million to aid families with children with catastrophic illnesses: these heroic community members were among those honored by American Red Cross at last year’s Real Heroes Breakfast. Now the American Red Cross, serving Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties, is seeking new heroes to honor at the ninth annual breakfast on Thursday, April 19, 2012. The breakfast benefits the local disaster relief fund and supports other essential, local Red Cross services. It will be held in Rohnert Park at the Doubletree Hotel.
The Red Cross wants to know about anyone in Sonoma, Mendocino or Lake Counties, who has shown an extraordinary gift for human compassion since January, 2011. Nomination forms, which must be received by February 9, are available on www.arcsm.org or from the Red Cross by calling (707) 577-7627.
The Gold Sponsor for the Real Heroes Breakfast is Wells Fargo. Silver Sponsors include Amy’s Kitchen, Infineon Raceway and Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. Bronze Sponsors include Agilent and Redwood Credit Union. Companies interested in sponsorship are encouraged to contact Emily Buller, Regional Development Officer for the Red Cross, at (707) 577-7627.
A panel of community leaders will review nominations. The categories are Animal, Education, Environment, Good Samaritan (Youth, Adult and Senior), Law Enforcement, Medical, Military and Professional Rescue.
Heroic acts must be ongoing or have occurred between January 1, 2011 and February 9, 2012. Heroes for all categories must live in, or heroic acts must have taken place in, Sonoma, Mendocino or Lake Counties.
There is no set donation amount. Guests are encouraged to generously support the work of the Red Cross in Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties.
The Real Heroes Breakfast goes from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. To attend or to find out more about sponsorship, interested parties can call (707) 577-7627.
