In Memoriam of Susan Kee, RN.

Each Red Cross volunteer is special in their individual way. Susan Kee, RN was no exception to the “special” part of being a volunteer. She was a long time American Red Cross nurse at the Pomona Valley Chapter and is remembered by many.

Bette Rohde remembers Sue as “always there to answer questions and willing to give directions to the newer nurses and volunteers.”

Sue Banman recalls her cheery smile and lighthearted spirit and the colorful hats that she often wore. “One of her hats had worry dolls around the band - they (the dolls) were to do all the worrying so she could have fun.”

Sue was part of the DAT team “back in the day”, taught disaster classes for the Pomona Chapter and served in her nursing capacity at the local level and in larger disaster incidents like the Landers/Big Bear Earthquake of 1992 where she was the shelter nurse.

Susan Kee died Friday November 2. Her funeral was attended by several long time Red Cross volunteers including: John and Mary Valencia, Peter Balducci and Frances Weigand.
