Last year in the Minn-Kota Region, the American Red Cross assisted 944 individuals due to disaster calls. Red Cross volunteers respond to house/apartment fires more than any other disaster in the region, leaving many families homeless unexpectedly.
The ‘Rooms For Red Cross’ campaign plays a key role in helping disaster victims get back on their feet. In addition, these rooms will be used on occasion for military personnel in need of lodging during an emergency situation.
26 hotels in the Fargo-Moorhead have come together to donate over 200 rooms for 2013. These rooms will go to those in need throughout the calendar year.
Participating hotels include: Airport Dome Days Inn & Suites, Arbuckle Lodge, Best Western Doublewood Inn, Best Western Kelly Inn & Suites, Candlewood Suites, Country Inn Suites by Carlson, Courtyard by Marriott, Days Inn Fargo - West Acres, Days Inn Moorhead, Econolodge East, Fargo Inn & Suites, Grand Inn Fargo, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn of Fargo, Homewood Suites By Hilton, Howard Johnson, Kelly Inn on 13th Avenue, MainStay Suites, Motel 6 South, Radisson Hotel Fargo, Ramada Plaza Suites & Conference Center, Rodeway Inn, Sleep Inn, Staybridge Suites, Super 8 Motel & Suites, and Wingate Inn.
“We simply cannot thank these businesses enough,” said Red Cross Regional CEO Judy Green. “Their willingness to partner with the Red Cross on this initiative is critical for our mission of helping those affected by disaster.”
“We are happy to help support the Red Cross with this program,” said Co-Chair Carol Johnson. “We want to make sure those affected by disaster have a place to go when they need it.”
