Stacy Burks is at work as the new executive director of the American Red Cross of Southern Missouri. She began her duties on May 4.
Burks has been the field representative in a 10-county area for Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) since 2011. In that capacity she provided community outreach, worked with municipal, county and regional leaders and implemented community events for Blunt. Burks was the Southwest Missouri district office director for former Sen. Christopher Bond (R-Mo.) from 1999-2011.
“I am excited by this opportunity and look forward to continuing my work in our community through the efforts of the local Red Cross chapter,” she said.
Burks was named after a two-month search process. As executive director she will be the face of the Red Cross in the community and have oversight of service delivery. The American Red Cross of Southern Missouri covers 29 counties and is headquartered in Springfield with offices in Joplin, Lebanon and West Plains. There are about 1,400 volunteers serving their neighbors in the Southern Missouri area.
Dr. Roger Huckfeldt, board chair of the Southern Missouri chapter, said, “We welcome Stacy and know she will be a strong asset in working with Red Cross volunteers, staff and community partners.”
Burks is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Missouri and past board member for Leadership Springfield. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
She and husband, Steve, reside in Springfield with their three children.
