How do you shelter hundreds of displaced people? How do you go about feeding them?
After three-days of disaster training, many American Red Cross staff and volunteers can better answer those questions and more.
The Red Cross hosted the weekend-long training sessions at the North East Stampede and Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) Rodeo in Westborough last weekend. It offered intensive training sessions in areas like mass care, feeding, fork lift operation, trailer towing, client casework and sheltering.
Drivers also participated in the ERV Rodeo – in which they trained and competed in categories like maneuvering, obstacles, parking and handling. More than ten area teams participated, with teams from the Eastern Massachusetts division taking the top spots.
