The American Red Cross Greater St. Louis Region announces a generous donation from the employees of Stifel Financial and the Stifel Foundation. The group donated more than $186,000 to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy.
“We are so pleased to accept this gracious gift from the employees of Stifel Financial and the Stifel Foundation,” said Cindy Erickson, Regional CEO of the American Red Cross. “Every dollar is needed, as hundreds of thousands of people along the East Coast are still struggling to recover.”
This is not the first time Stifel Financial has reached out to the Red Cross with a financial donation, following a disaster. Most recently, the firm and its employees raised more than $88,000 for disaster relief following the violent storms that swept through the St. Louis region in the spring of 2011.
More than three months since Superstorm Sandy’s landfall, nearly 700 Red Cross workers are on the ground in New York. They are providing meals and helping people get assistance with home repairs, rent, utility deposits, and connecting them with social service programs.
Thanks to the public’s generous support, the Red Cross has provided food, shelter, relief supplies and comfort to tens of thousands of Sandy survivors. So far the Red Cross has served more than 12.5 million meals and snacks, handed out nearly seven million relief items including cold weather items and clean-up supplies, and provided more than 111,000 health services and emotional support contacts for people who have been living in very tough conditions.
