Editor's note: On the anniversary of September 11 and National Preparedness Month, county administrators highlight the importance of being truly prepared
Each year, as we approach the anniversary of the September 11 tragedy, we are reminded of life's fragility. We are also reminded that we must be there for each other to help our communities recover from disasters of all kinds and demonstrate the resiliency of our people.
Sonoma and Mendocino Counties each see their share of disasters such as fires and floods, and we face the possibility of a major earthquake at any time. As county administrators, we know nothing is more important than the safety and security of our residents. We are each responsible for effective emergency preparedness and response, and are proud of our county employees who are highly trained responders.
