Taunton officials on Tuesday thanked Taunton resident Paula Farrales for her service as a Red Cross volunteer.
Mayor Thomas Hoye and City Council President John McCaul presented Farrales with a citation for her years of work with the Taunton Emergency Management Agency through the Massachusetts Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster and the American Red Cross.
“I truly feel that I get more out of what I’m doing than the communities and people we serve do,” Farrales said.
Farrales is a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts. She has accepted several deployments to disaster-stricken states, has managed shelters and often responds to fires in the middle of the night. The Red Cross is fortunate to have such a dedicated volunteer to turn to in times of disaster.
