In August, the American Red Cross presented schools teachers in the Mid-Del School District at Soldier Creek Elementary School with gift cards to help replace personal classroom items lot during the May Tornadoes.
We recently received these messages from some of those teachers and staff at Soldier Creek Elementary:
"I want to thank the Red Cross for your generous gift of $1,500.00. This would have been a tough year for funds as my PTA budget was next to nothing. Thanks to you, I will want for nothing! One of my favorite expenditures is welcome goody bags for new students. It is a small gesture that goes a long was towards making new students feel welcome. With your monies I am able to give every new student a welcome bag all year long!
Thank you for all you do to help those in need. You are truly a blessing!
Having never been in a disaster before, I had no idea how nice it is to have someone give me lots of money to do what I needed, no strings attached! I have certainly put your generous funds to work; buying school supplies, resources for guidance lessons, backpacks, and goodies for new student welcome bags. Also, this frees up PTA money to be used for field trips and other worthy causes. Thank you again and again for making this year a wonderful experience!"

"I just wanted to thank you and the Red Cross organization for the financial help I received after our school, Soldier Creek Elementary in Midwest City, was flooded in the May 31 storms. I have been able to purchase many replacement items as well as do some "extras" that I might not have otherwise done. And, I still have some of your generous gift to use in the future! Thank you, Red Cross, for being there for Oklahoma!"
