Two Corporate Executives Appointed to Board of Directors

The American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois today announced the appointment of two corporate executives, Fred Costello, VP & President, Global Product Management for Grainger, and Paul M. Gallagher, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP, to the organization’s Board of Directors for the greater Chicago and Northern Illinois region. 

“Both Fred Costello and Paul Gallagher are great additions to our leadership team, who helps guide the strategic direction of our humanitarian services and programs,” said Harley Jones, Interim Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois. 

The volunteer Board includes more than 30 civic and corporate leaders from a range of professional backgrounds for the region that serves 9.5 million people in 21 counties in Northern Illinois. Fred Costello, VP & President, Global Product Management, Grainger 

Fred Costello was named VP & President, Global Product Management on September 1, 2015. In this role, he is responsible for managing the overall product offering, developing key global product categories, developing the company’s global private label offer, and driving leverage across the North American product teams. He is also responsible for Grainger’s operations in China, including Grainger China Limited and Fabory China. Mr. Costello previously held the position of Vice President, Global Product Management since September 2014. Prior to this role, he was Vice President of Product Management & Sourcing in the U.S. Fred joined Grainger in 2002 and has held roles of increasing responsibility across Product Management and Grainger Global Sourcing. He has helped Grainger shape and execute many product management initiatives that have been foundational to the overall growth and profitability of the company. 

Paul M. Gallagher, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP 

Paul Gallagher has 24 years of experience in public accounting with a strong focus on the financial services industry. He has served some of Deloitte’s largest and most complex clients in this sector, including multinational insurance companies, banks and investment companies. Mr. Gallagher served as a leader in Deloitte’s mergers and acquisitions financial services industry practice in the organization’s Northeast region, which provided him with strong experience with a variety of large, complex transactions. From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Gallagher was stationed in eastern Asia while part of Deloitte & Touche Overseas Services, LLC, as the lead expatriate partner for services provided to financial services industry clients in Japan. His role included serving as the financial instruments specialist in the Asia-Pacific region; consulting on various accounting and reporting matters in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand; and consulting on matters pertaining to the banking industry, including derivative transactions and internal control processes. Mr. Gallagher is also an Executive Board Member, Vice-President, on the United Way North-Northwest Board of Directors.
