The Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross added Herkimer County Community College administrator Vicki Brown and U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. John Mills to its Board of Directors at the board’s annual meeting June 26 at Utica College.
Brown, of Herkimer, is the Director of the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement at HCCC. She’s also an adjunct instructor at HCCC and head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. A Vestal native, Brown earned her Bachelor’s and Master of Science in Education degrees from SUNY Potsdam.
Master Sgt. Mills, an Albany native, works for Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS) at Griffiss Business and Technology Park in Rome. Staffed by active-duty New York Air National Guardsmen and a Canadian Forces detachment, the unit is responsible for air sovereignty and counter-air operations over the eastern United States.
“We’re thrilled to add Vicki and John to our board because they bring a wealth of experience and expertise to two areas where the Red Cross impacts the Mohawk Valley: education through our preparedness classes, and the military through our Services to the Armed Forces,” said Jennifer Balog, Community Chapter Executive of the Mohawk Valley Chapter.
Brown and Mills were nominated for three-year terms on the board and approved by the current board members at the annual meeting. Including Brown and Mills, the board has 15 members.
The other board members are: Chair Christopher Bray, Vice-Chair Joe DeFina, Vice-Chair Myron Thurston, Treasurer Michele Salisbury, Brandi Candido, Alex Carbone, Victoria Cataldo, Stephanie Davis, Scott George, Donald Hanson, Ph.D., Barbara Ann Heegan, John Prumo and Denise Snyder.
