Evelyn Hildebrand, a loyal and very active volunteer in the Mid-Dakota Chapter, not only gives her time to the Red Cross but also volunteers at the Angel Tree ministry, Hostfest, Lutheran Disaster Services, North Dakota Association of the Blind, the American Council of Blind and wherever help is needed.
Why do you give your time to the Red Cross?
The opportunity for me to give my time to the Red Cross means that I am part of a fantastic team of volunteers that come together to do any job that we can to help the Red Cross and the community.
What are some of the things you do/how are you involved with the Red Cross?
Recently I have been able to help organize all of our volunteers, from disaster response to mass care feeding. We also get together to help assemble the Winter Survival Kits. I also helped with the shelter set-up for a recent condo complex fire, bulk mailing, Hostfest, and anything else volunteers are needed for.
What is the most memorable time you have volunteered with the Red Cross?
The condo complex fire where we worked with the residents without their ID’s, glasses, hearing aids, medical info and more. The residents were very appreciative of all that we did. Also, the Winter Survival Kit assembly was a great experience; the group really puts their hearts and souls together to get it done.
Why should others volunteer with the Red Cross?
Our team of volunteers is welcoming to everyone and it is a rewarding activity for all of our volunteers and for those we serve.
