It was a very proud moment for the entire Central-Southeast Ohio Region when volunteers representing those deployed across the country posed for a photo in their disaster vests. On June 27th at our Annual Meeting, our deployed volunteers were invited to attend as recognition for their sacrifice for those disaster victims.
In all, more than 217 trips were made in the last year by volunteers from the region who headed elsewhere to provide help and support to victims of several notable disasters, like Superstorm Sandy, the Boston Marathon bombings and the recent Oklahoma Tornadoes. Volunteers reported that those affected by these emergencies are always appreciative when they notice the chapters’ locations printed on the ERV’s. That’s when they recognize that help is coming from far and wide, thanks to the remarkable support of the Red Cross.
While most volunteers are back in Columbus, we still have one volunteer who was recently deployed to Colorado to assist with the Wildfire Response.
