The Red Cross played a prominent role in a recent winter storm drill at the Ohio EMA. At the request of Ohio Governor John Kasich, officials activated the massive Emergency Operations Center to conduct an exercise involving many government agencies and partner organizations. The scenario was that a large winter storm had blocked major highways and knocked out power to significant areas in Ohio, and several agencies, including the Red Cross were asked to report on the status of their relief efforts. The exercise illustrated how all of the organizations work together to provide disaster relief and keep Ohioans safe.
