The New Bedford Food Pantry recently received a special visit from one of the Boston Red Sox’s finest members: Wally.
Wally the Green Monster and members of the Red Sox front office stopped by the pantry on Oct. 11 to greet volunteers and clients.
Food & Nutrition Programs Director David Andre said the pantry serves about 500 people a day, and that volunteers signed up many new clients on Oct. 11.
“I am so happy that we are doing what we can to make life a little easier for so many folks,” Andre said.
The New Bedford Food Pantry is open to clients on Thursdays from 1 to 6 p.m. It is located at 593 Kempton St. and serves 20,000 individuals a year.
