The Bold Gold Media and Honesdale Rotary Battle of the Sexes Blood Drive was held at Rusty Palmer Powersports on Route 6 east of Honesdale on Tuesday, February 12th. Regina Campbell and Peggy Block, Blood Volunteers from the Wayne Pike Chapter of the American Red Cross, acted as appointment managers for the day. Claudia Schroeder, ARC Blood Services Account Manager, and Linda Barney, ARC Wayne Pike Chapter Office/Volunteer Manager, were on hand to offer assistance.

Mikki Uzupes, Honesdale Bold Gold Media News Reporter/Web Editor and Wayne Pike American Red Cross Board Member, kept track of the counts of every man and woman. The gentlemen proved themselves worthy of the challenge. The number of men who donated outnumbered the women by just seven. There were 137 pints of blood collected by the American Red Cross Blood Services (NEPA Region located in Ashley, PA).

One lucky winner from the gender (Albert Rutherford) with the most pints at the conclusion of the drive won a dinner for four at Rusty’s Riverview Restaurant. One winner among the losing gender (Rosemary Lamberton) received dinner for two. Everyone who registered to donate the day of the drive was eligible for a series of prize drawings including $25 gift certificates to area restaurants and Maureen Caplette won a weekend for two at Woodloch Pines Resort.
