Volunteers from the American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter opened two shelters today to assist those displaced by flooding, and are on standby to open another if needed.

A shelter is open at Betty Fairfax High School, 8225 S. 59th Ave., Laveen, and at Copper Canyon High School, 9126 W. Camelback Rd., Glendale. A team is standing by with supplies to open a shelter if needed in La Paz County.

"Anyone who needs help from the Red Cross should call us at 1-800-842-7349," said Trudy Thompson Rice, communications officer for the Red Cross in Arizona.

Arizonans are urged to register with Red Cross Safe and Well to let their loved ones know they are safe (www.redcross.org/safeandwell) and to download the free Red Cross flood app from their app store or www.redcross.org. The app is loaded with information on what to do before, during and after a flood.
