Holiday Mail for Heroes Sends Holiday Cheer to Service Members

2014-09-19 - San Diego - Holiday Mail for Heroes Sends Holiday Cheer to Service Members
It only takes a moment to sign a card and share appreciation for the sacrifices made by members of the military and veteran community.

Fall is upon us, and the holiday season is quickly approaching! While many look forward to this time of year, the Red Cross understands that the challenges of military life can be even more difficult during the holidays. With many service members separated from their families due to deployments and hospital stays, our Holiday Mail for Heroes program empowers the public to “Give Something That Means Something” this season by sending a card of thanks and support to members of the Armed Forces, veterans and military families.

Every year, thousands people participate in the Holiday Mail for Heroes program by creating cards with messages of thanks and holiday cheer for service members. The cards not only express gratitude, but also provide a “touch of home” to deployed service members. Card making is not only a great family-friendly activity; it’s also the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit! You can even put together your own card signing party, inviting family and friends to participate.

It only takes a moment to sign a card and share appreciation for the sacrifices made by members of the military and veteran community. To ensure that cards are delivered in time for the holidays, they must be mailed or delivered to the local Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties office (located at 3950 Calle Fortunada, San Diego, CA 92123) no later than Friday, December 4.

More information and card requirements can be found at redcross.org/holidaymail.
