ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Cadets from White Knoll High School’s Navy Junior ROTC classes took time out of their spring break to volunteer with the American Red Cross in Orangeburg.
The seven cadets joined with other Red Cross volunteers to clean out, inventory, and rearrange the five disaster trailers. The trailers are used for after large-scale disasters and are filled with extra comfort kits, cots, and blankets which can be used when opening a shelter. The cadets helped keep them ready to deploy when needed.
Pamela Fox, a Red Cross volunteer since 2008, arranged to have the cadets come to Orangeburg to complete a community service project. Fox’s daughter, Shannon, is a member of ROTC at White Knoll High and joined her classmates.
“It’s been a lot of help having the students here,” Fox said.
