March is Red Cross Month: Volunteer, Donate, Take a Class
Red Cross Month is a great time for people to become part of the Red Cross and there are many different ways to do it,” said Gino Greco, CEO of the American Red Cross Colorado & Wyoming Region.

March was first proclaimed as Red Cross Month 71 years ago by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since 1943, every president, including President Obama, has made the designation since. The Red Cross is synonymous with helping people, and has been doing so for more than 130 years. Everyday heroes lend a hand to those in need in communities across the country. Whether it’s helping disaster victims get on the road to recovery, giving blood to help a hospital patient, stepping forward to assist someone having a heart attack or to save a drowning child, or simply brightening the day of an injured service member who is in a hospital far from home.

There are several ways to support the American Red Cross:

Volunteer – Be part of our Colorado Red Cross team. go to www.redcross.org/colorado and click on volunteer

“Red Cross Month is a great time for people to become part of the Red Cross and there are many different ways to do it,” said Gino Greco, CEO of the American Red Cross Colorado & Wyoming Region. “I urge everyone to consider taking at least one step – become a Red Cross volunteer, take a lifesaving class, or making a financial donation.”

Numerous restaurants in Colorado are supporting the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross by donating a portion of their sales during special promotions in March.
