RED WHITE + YOU BALL will Inspire with Red Cross Stories
FARMINGTON, CONN., April 4, 2014 — The RED WHITE + YOU BALL to benefit the American Red Cross will be held Saturday, April 26, at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $250 per person with proceeds to benefit Red Cross programs and services.
“Our theme for the Ball this year is ‘What’s your story?’” said Mario Bruno, American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region CEO. “We meet so many people who have been touched in some way by the American Red Cross that we thought it would be inspiring and informative to share some of those stories and to encourage others to begin writing their own Red Cross story by joining us on April 26.”
Bruno said the What’s your story? theme would resonate throughout the evening. “With stories to read, stories to watch and interactive displays, we are going to share how the Red Cross serves people in so many ways.”
The RED WHITE + YOU BALL this year will honor Stew and Kim Leonard, Jr., who have long supported Red Cross water safety programs through Stew Leonard III Children’s Charities. “As business leaders and individuals, Stew and Kim have given so much of their time, their hearts and their money to support the Red Cross,” Bruno said. “Their support of programs that teach swimming and safety in and on the water have saved untold lives.”
Co-Chairs of the Ball are Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter Board Chair Nicole Milici, CEO of Spada Media, and Kara Sundlun, co-host of Better Connecticut on WFSB TV3. Emcee for the evening is Kevin Neghandi, ESPN news anchor currently appearing on morning SportsCenter broadcasts. Auctioneers for the Ball are Kara Sundlun and Dennis House, Eyewitness News anchor and Face the State moderator on WFSB TV3. “We’re excited to have such strong leadership for the Ball and to have exciting presenters as part of our special evening,” Bruno said.
Bruno said he hopes the Ball will inspire guests, but that the evening should also be entertaining. “The evening is a celebration of our work, so we want people have fun! We will have dancing, terrific food and drink and, of course, amazing auction items. We hope this will be among the most memorable events of the year.”
